August 2025 Newsletter

Over three years ago, we started First Nations Security (FNS) to challenge perceptions and create a model of community-driven success in the security industry. FNS isn’t just a business… it’s a commitment to empowerment, reconciliation, and meaningful change.

We've made great strides, thanks to your support, and there's much more ahead. To our clients and supporters: thank you for believing in us. We remain dedicated to delivering on our promises and purpose.

NAIDOC Week 2025

We start this newsletter off hoping everyone had a fantastic NAIDOC week.  This year’s theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” is close to our hearts here at FNS.  Our people and our workforce carry multiple generations and as an organisation of young people, parents and grandparents we are all working with strength and vision to build a legacy for the generation who come, thankful for the legacy we have inherited.

We also want to shout out to our clients who are doing an amazing job in supporting Indigenous people and businesses.  We thank you for your support and acknowledge the great work you are doing in contributing to building our next generation.

Our people were privileged to be able to attend NAIDOC activities throughout the week including our co-founders who got to attend this year’s NAIDOC March ending at Bourke and Spring street in the city. And whilst we are proud as an Indigenous business to celebrate NAIDOC, we also know our history and the origins of this time.  With this, we pay our respects to the sacrifices of our forbearers.

Partnering with RMIT

This week, First Nations Security proudly progressed our partnership with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), expanding our role in supporting Melbourne’s vibrant education sector.

We’re now delivering a combination of customer service, traffic management and security services for  RMIT, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for students, staff and visitors alike. Our team has been hard at work preparing for RMIT’s upcoming Open Day, where more than 4,000 attendees are expected to visit the campus.

We’re honoured to play a part in supporting such an important event and look forward to continuing our service to one of Melbourne’s most respected institutions.

Guarding Progress Street

At First Nations Security, we take pride in safeguarding the places that matter, with our work at Progress Street for the Level Crossing Removal Project being no exception. As part of the Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance, this project plays a key role in improving safety and easing congestion for the Dandenong community.

To protect the site around the clock, we’ve deployed a tailored security solution which includes:

  • Mobile security patrols (regular and responsive)

  • Solar-powered CCTV units for remote surveillance

  • Alarm system installation

  • 24/7 alarm monitoring and rapid response

  • On-site security guard presence, including our team member Ruben (pictured above)

With trusted support in place, Fulton Hogan can focus on building for our community, whilst we focus on keeping their worksites secure.

Deadly in Melbourne

Getting out amongst the community is something that the team find joy in.  Last month we had the opportunity through Kinaway Chamber of Commerce to attend ‘Deadly in Melbourne’ and what an event it was.

We can’t thank acting CEO Alex Martin and the Kinaway team enough. It was great to see the range of businesses and the great companies attending to do business with community.  We also had a booth at the Industry Capability Network (ICN) Victoria who also hosted an event for Indigenous businesses to meet the industry.

Nick, Sean and Chris engaged many companies at both events. Next time we see you at these events, we invite you to come and join us for a yarn!
